Septemper Wrap-up

Hello Beautiful Booknerds!!

Hey!! this have been a great reading month for, I have you have read great books as well.

1- The Lost Hero (THE HEROES OF OLYMPUS #1) by Rick Riordan

Jason has a problem.
He doesn’t remember anything before waking up in a bus full of kids on a field trip. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Piper, and a best friend named Leo. They’re all students at a boarding school for “bad kids.” What did Jason do to end up here? And where is here, exactly?

Piper has a secret.
Her father has been missing for three days, ever since she had that terrifying nightmare about his being in trouble. Piper doesn’t understand her dream, or why her boyfriend suddenly doesn’t recognize her. When a freak storm hits during the school trip, unleashing strange creatures and whisking her, Jason, and Leo away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood, she has a feeling she’s going to find out.

Leo has a way with tools.
When he sees his cabin at Camp Half-Blood, filled with power tools and machine parts, he feels right at home. But there’s weird stuff, too—like the curse everyone keeps talking about, and some camper who’s gone missing. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist that each of them—including Leo—is related to a god. Does this have anything to do with Jason’s amnesia, or the fact that Leo keeps seeing ghosts?

My Star rating: 3 out of 5

My Thoughts:

This was disappointing for me, I like the new characters I just didn’t care much for them, and I was disconnected to the story because of the writing was in third point of view, since the first series was in the first person, also I really miss Percy, I tried to read this book once before and had to put it down ’cause initially I picked it up because I miss Percy. I like the roman aspect and since this is a spin off it feels right that it isn’t just about Greek, I think that’s what made me power through and the fact that Percy is in the next book. I listen to this on audiobook an the narrator did a great gob voicing each character.

2- The Son of Neptune (THE HEROES OF OLYMPUS #2) by Rick Riordan (Author), Joshua Swanson (Narrator)

My Thoughts:

I enjoy this more than the previous book because in this one we follow Percy, I have missed him so much, I’m very happy to read about him and his adventure, and the fact I have seen him grow in the first series and now that he lost his memories and we see him six months after that, it’s amazes me how much he had grown.

I’m fond of Percy’s friendship with Hazel and Frank is great and I like how connected they’re. I’m not sure if I like Hazel and Frank more than Piper and Jason and Leo, I think all of them are different and it’s hard for me to imagine their first interaction, they’re both are good teams and it’s going to be a bit hard for the Greek camp and the Roman camp to put aside their differences and forget about the bad blood between them and work together. Riordan is making the series about working together, he is forcing the gods to work with half-bloods and forcing the Greeks and Romans to work together.

I found the humor better in this book. The Roman camp is interesting, I don’t like it as much as half-Blood camp but I like it and the deference between the both camps.
The ending is epic, Riordan really knows how to end books, I cannot wait to start the next book in the series.

3-reread: A Court of Mist and Fury (A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES #2) by Sarah J. Maas

I loved this more the second time. My full thoughts and review.

4- The Princess Saves Herself in This One (WOMEN ARE SOME KIND OF MAGIC #1) by Amanda Lovelace

I quite enjoyed this one, the writing is empowering, there were a few poems that made get emotional. I didn’t liked all the poems though, some weren’t as good. if you want to get into poetry and don’t know where to start, I highly recommend this one.

5- The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One (WOMEN ARE SOME KIND OF MAGIC #2) by Amanda Lovelace

I liked this one a little better than the previous one, I felt this one is more mature and I preferred the metaphors, there were a few I didn’t like as much, but over all it was pretty enjoyably.

6-ARC: Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker (Author), Wendy Xu

Mooncakes is released in October. My Non- spoiler Review.

7- Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2) by Laini Taylor

I’m really happy I decided to continue on with this series, I loved the characters, and the book, the beginning is attention grapping, and the development for each character is great, and also their relationships. this was so beautiful.

8-LALIN’S CURSE by Isakytm

this is a webtoon, you can read it for free on the website. since I read Save me – BTS, I wanted to read more on the website, this not actually finished yet but ‘i have read all the episode that have been released. this is middle grade, the main characters are around 13-14

I think this was a bit slow since it’s meant for a younger audience.
This was enjoyable for me, and I’m interested in reading more, I want to know how and why does David have, and why do his eyes glow? there is still so much we don’t know. I just love David so much and I like how he is set on investigating Lalin’s Curse and he doesn’t give up even when the people around him keep telling him his theory cannot be true.

Bungou Stray Dogs season 1

This is about teenagers with supernatural abilities, Atsushi the protagonist can turn into a tiger, he was kicked out of the orphanage, he meets the Armed Detective Agency and he becomes a member of their organization.

Dazai is always trying to suicide which he never explains why, like he doesn’t seem depressed or anything , maybe in season 2 or 3 he’ll explain, like in half of the season we discover something about his past so I think we’ll understand why soon. The pacing is great, and I like most of the characters, and I really like the story line, I hope to continue this one.

La Casa de Papel season 1

A group of very peculiar robbers assault the Factory of Moneda and Timbre to carry out the most perfect robbery in the history of Spain and take home 2.4 billion euros.

My friend recommenced this for me, and now I’m obsessed with it, like this month I had time to watch the other two seasons, but I didn’t because I don’t want it to end, and I have to wait till 2020 for the forth season. I CANNOT WAIT THAT LONG.

The Professor is a genies, he planned for everything, and I love how their names are cites’ names, like everything in the show is perfect, I never got bored watching, I was always at the edge of my seat .

How was your month? are you interested in any book/show I have talked about?

Did you read or watched any of them?

All The Love
I hope you’re having a great day/ night

Top 10 Tuesday // Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why

Hello beautiful booknerds

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Here is my Top 10 Tuesday list of Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why. in no particular order.

1- Queen of Shadows (THRONE OF GLASS #4) by Sarah J. Maas

Why I am avoiding it? because I have to reread the first 3 books, it been a long time since I read them, and reading 7 whole books is time consuming.

2- Magic Study (POISON STUDY #2) by Maria V. Snyder

Why I am avoiding it? I think there is a character that I loved so much in the first book may not be in this book.

3- War Storm (RED QUEEN #4) by Victoria Aveyard

Why I am avoiding it? I read the first couple of pages of this book, and kinda made me a little dissapointed, so now I am trying to lower my expectations, because whenever I try to read it, I get pissed and end up closing the book.

4- Wonder Woman: Warbringer (DC ICONS #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Why I am avoiding it? the fact that a 3 amazing authors that I admire each wrote a book in a series about superheros haven’t fully sunk in yet, I love superheros and it kinda weird that authors I know and love are writing about them, I would never look at these superheros the same way again. after I read the series I’m gonna associate this series with the actual superheros, I may never be able to watch their movies again.

5- Three Dark Crowns (THREE DARK CROWNS #1) by Kendare Blake

Why I am avoiding it? it has so much hype around, also my expectations are so high.

6- Passenger (PASSENGER #1) by Alexandra Bracken

Why I am avoiding it? I read books about time travel before and they disappointed me, I’m worried this will be the same.

7- The Dream Thieves (THE RAVEN CYCLE #2) by Maggie Stiefvater

Why I am avoiding it? I read the first book and it disappointed me, but I do like the characters so I want to give it another chance, and I already have purchased the whole series, I purchased them before I started reading the first book, it never crossed my mind at the time that I may not enjoy it.

8- Caraval (CARAVAL #1) by Stephanie Garber

Why I am avoiding it? I heard so much mixed things about this series, to me it sounded good, but I don’t like to read hyped books, I try so hard to lower my expectations, mostly I’m good, unfortunately I’m so hyped to read it,and my hopes are too high I don’t think it cloud meet my expectations.

9- Fireblood (FROSTBLOOD SAGA #2) by Elly Blake

Why I am avoiding it? I nearly forgot everything from the first book, even though I remember enjoying it so much, to complete the series I have to reread the first book, and I’m worried if I do reread it, I may not like it as much.

10- The Book Jumper by Mechthild Gläser

Why I am avoiding it? This book is translated, in my experience, reading a book it it’s original language is always better, sometimes translators change things or change the writing style sometimes. the premise of this book sounds so interesting.

I hope you’re having a great day/ night
